Vidash Impact Foundation Brings Hope and Sanitation Support to Assin Kruwah

Vidash Impact Foundation continues its mission of learning about the real needs of communities, promoting the spirit of generous giving, and spreading hope to the less fortunate. With a strong commitment to deprived communities with little to no income, the foundation remains dedicated to making consistent efforts that improve lives and restore dignity.

Recently, the foundation visited Assin Kruwah, a rural community in the Central Region of Ghana. The community has a population of over 1,700 people, with farming and manual labor serving as the primary sources of livelihood. Despite the hard work of its people,  Assin Kruwah is regarded as one of the most deprived villages in the area, experiencing very low income growth and limited access to  basic infrastructure. During discussions with the Chief and Elders of the community, one pressing concern stood out, the complete absence of a public toilet facility.

In this modern age, it is deeply concerning that a community of this size lacks a place of convenience. As a result, open defecation has become widespread, exposing residents — particularly women and children  to serious health risks. The contamination of water, soil, and food by human waste increases the spread of infectious diseases. This situation directly conflicts with global efforts aligned with the United Nations Sustainable  Development Goals, which aim to ensure access to adequate and equitable sanitation for all and to end open defecation by 2030.

Sustainable Solution

In response to this urgent need, Vidash Impact Foundation, in collaboration with the Chief and Elders of Assin Kruwah, has initiated plans to construct a multi-gender, eight-room public toilet facility.
This project will help:

  • To prevent the spread of bacteria, viruses, and parasites
  • Reduce water and soil contamination
  • Protect children from diarrheal diseases
  • Prevent other major diseases such as cholera, schistosomiasis, and trachoma
  • Promote dignity, hygiene, and healthier living conditions

Beyond construction, the foundation will also implement education on proper usage and maintenance to ensure sustainability and long-term impact. Vidash Impact Foundation believes that true development begins with listening, understanding, and acting. Through this initiative, the foundation is not only building a facility but restoring dignity, protecting lives, and reinforcing the importance of giving back to society.
